Metamaterial Technologies Inc. welcomes Brandon Sumarah, Junior Mechanical Engineer

The engineering team at Metamaterial Technologies Inc. is welcoming a new member to its team. Brandon Sumarah is a graduate from the Mechanical Engineering Program at the University of New Brunswick and joins MTI to assist with research and product development. Mr. Sumarah joins MTI after working with F.C. O’Neil Scriven & Associates.

“Brandon is a great addition to our engineering team and we look forward to working with him,” says George Palikaras, MTI Founder and CEO.

In his final year at the University of New Brunswick, Mr. Sumarah and a team of engineers developed, designed, patented, and prototyped an innovative aftermarket technique for selectively locking a vehicle’s differential. His project offered a new automotive solution that could be retrofitted into modern vehicles to improve their traction in rough or slippery conditions. The University of New Brunswick awarded this product second place in the multidisciplinary 2015 Engineering Design Symposium.

“The smart material industry is relatively new. I’m excited to have a part in developing products that may revolutionize the way we think of light,” says Mr. Sumarah, Junior Mechanical Engineer. “Not only am I working on cutting-edge technology, but I also get to work with some of the world’s leaders in metamaterials and nanofabrication.”
