MTI Welcomes Local Talented Students for the Summer

Metamaterial Technology Inc. (MTI) is pleased to announce the addition of four new co-ops, Ainsley Walsh, Josiah McNutt, Matthew Hickey, and Scott Mackendrick to the MTI team as interns for the 2016 summer semester.

Ms. Walsh is a fourth-year Dalhousie University student pursuing an education in chemical engineering. Ms. Walsh brings to MTI a portfolio of viable expertise from her last co-op working at Dalhousie University Department of Physics and Atmospheric Science. There she concentrated her efforts on researching a thesis paper on air quality. At MTI, Ms. Walsh will work closely with the research and development teams.

Mr. McNutt is a fourth-year chemical engineering student attending Dalhousie University. Mr. McNutt joins the team at MTI to complete his second co-operative education placement. His last co-operative education placement was at Dalhousie University as a research assistant, where he was the lead author on a review paper focused on biolubricant production.

Working with MTI’s engineering team in the research and development department, Mr. Hickey has joined MTI for his second of three co-operative education placements. Mr. Hickey is a fourth-year mechanical engineering student at Dalhousie University in Halifax. Prior to working with MTI, Mr. Hickey spent his last co-operative education placement at ADM Systems Engineering, performing consulting work for Michelin as a machine designer.

Mr. Mackendrick is fourth-year student pursuing a bachelor of public relations from Mount Saint Vincent University. Prior to working at MTI, Mr. Mackendrick worked with the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development in their social media department. Spending his final co-operative education placement at MTI, he will be assisting the marketing and communications team.

“We are excited to have such a talented group working with us this summer. We recognize the value of having young local talent, eager to learn and embrace new challenges,” said George Palikaras, MTI Founder and CEO. “We look forward to working with all our new students over the next few months.”
