Halifax NS – Shona Nicolle, and Sagar Jha have joined the team at MTI. We are excited to bring on two Fellows from Venture for Canada. Venture for Canada (VFC) selects the top recent graduates in Canada who have shown an aptitude for entrepreneurship and leadership. VFC then connects those graduates to the top start-up companies across the country.

Nicolle and Jha were both selected as two of the top 30 graduates through a competitive 3-stage selection process, which saw over 800 applicants. Venture for Canada identified MTI as one of the top emerging Canadian companies, and established a partnership in March, 2015.

Shona Nicolle holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Dalhousie University, where she majored in Marketing. She has worked in early-stage companies before and says “MTI is an exciting place to be. I’m thrilled to be working with an exceptional team, at a company that has incredible potential.” Shona completed 3 work-terms as part of her studies and has a broad range of experience pertaining to marketing, social selling, and product management.

Sagar Jha earned his B.Sc. in Biology from Dalhousie University. He has since worked in not-for-profit management for 3 years within STEM education, government advocacy, and community recreation sectors. He says “MTI’s innovative nature, ambition, and meaningful mission make it one of Canada’s top emerging companies.” Sagar brings a broad range of skills related to communications, corporate governance, and sales.

Both Shona and Sagar will be working closely with Michael Hodgett (VP of Business Development), in order to gain deeper understanding of markets, managing and identifying sales relationships, and assisting in all other aspects related to business development. “Having a team with such broad and complementary skills will allow MTI to take another step towards our full potential.” George Palikaras, MTI CEO adds that “bringing these two bright, hardworking, and accomplished individuals bolsters our business development capabilities, while adding new skills to our company.”
