Two next-generation, smart passive components—a metal–polymer current collector (NCORETM) and a nanoporous ceramic separator (NPORE®)—have been developed to enhance the safety and performance of lithium-ion batteries. NCORETM functions as a fuse that prevents thermal runaway events, whereas NPORE® further augments inherent cell safety due to its exceptional thermal and dimensional stability. The combination of NCORETM and NPORE® offers an innovative safety solution for lithium-ion batteries of a wide range of chemistries and form factors.
